Crash a birthday party at Neumos tonight (stalker opp!)

April is Donte Parks' birthday month and he's celebrating his "I Ain't Dead Yet Mutha*%&#* Dirty Thirty Extravaganza!" along with Truckasauras and Sleepy Eyes of Death at Neumos on Wednesday. Go already; the show is free, it is hump day, and honestly now, you've got nothing better to do, right?

Sleepy Eyes of Death @ Chop Suey

Sleepy Eyes of Death are the masters of lighting and fog. Good to catch 'em live. And Truckasauras? What can I say that you haven't already heard? Dance your robot heart out.

personal message to my stalkers: I've make it particularly challenging these past few months to track me ahead of time. So just because it is tax day +1 and you've had a stressful week, I'm throwing you this bone. Ignore and you may not get another for a very long time.

I'll be eating my (and your) share of sushi over the next two weeks in the land of the rising sun.
Sayonara, peeps. Represent, and carry on without me!

First come, first serve. Imagine Best Buy on Black Friday: street artists and fans queuing up on the sidewalk starting at 6 am. Ha! I've called dibs on one but won't be there to collect. Poor me. If you go, please be sure to wish Kinoko a very happy birthday.

new! Saturday, Feb 9th: BLVD Project Room at TRIPLE - opening reception, with performance by The Saturday Knights. BLVD Gallery owner Damion opens a new work/project space in Ballard, featuring artists in residence. SFA is the headliner, so don't go too late. Pssssst: the "very special guest" expected at Chop Suey on 2/26 with A Place to Bury Strangers is very likely to be a band whose name rhymes with "rolly duck."

Wednesday Feb 13th: Los Amigos Invisibles @ Neumos. "A blend of disco, acid jazz, and funk mixed with Latin rhythms." [wikipedia]

new! Friday, February 15th: Artifakt show @ Neumos. Fresh spotlight on board culture. Includes custom skateboards and snowboards, photography, premiers of two videos, and DJ spinnin' action. Mingle with luminaries in nw boarding.

Stalker Opportunities (01.17.08)

I've been so uncommitted the last couple of weeks I haven't tossed out any stalker opportunities. what have you all done with yourselves?
Blame it on post-holiday malaise. Trust me: I did get out. Just didn't want to commit to anything in advance and risk leaving you brokenly disappointed. That post-holiday malaise has passed, so here's what I've got on my list in coming days:

Friday Jan 18th, earlier: making some plans with travel pals
Friday Jan 18th, later: Z-Trip at the Last Supper Club, baby. More here.

Saturday Jan 19th, earlier: my sister's newest photography show: opening reception. Located on lower Queen Anne, ping me if you want the deets.
Saturday Jan 19th, later: The Teenagers @ Neumos. Maybe. Possibility the photo show crew will afterparty here, or somewhere, or not at all.

Sunday Jan 20th: Dan Deacon @ Neumos. Don't miss this jiggly, uninhibited wild man just to see what he'll do next. Half responsible for the Drinking Out of Cups vid.

Monday Jan 21st: Apt #1325 Monday Night Residency w/ Throw Me the Statue @ Chop Suey. This is the third and final night of residency with TMtS and guests. TMtS has been getting press from the likes of stereogum, pitchfork, and filter. Also want to give props to Chop Suey for giving the residency thing a solid go.

Stalker Opportunities: Feb 1 - 15

Lots of interesting stuff the first half of February in Sea-town. Sorry for you, but I'll be in Japan the first two weeks of February so I you'll have to channel my energy at the following events. Get fierce!

Saturday, Feb 2nd: Free Art Seattle Exhibition, closing night. Show runs now through Feb 2nd @ the Wayward Cafe. Art in the exhibition will be given away at the closing night party! Limit of one per person. The time hasn't been publicized yet, so keep an eye on the Free Art Seattle flickr group for deets.

Saturday, Feb 2nd: Inner Flight vs. Danger Inc. NW djs collab to bring you all-night dance. Location: tbd.

Thursday, Feb 7th: First Thursday art walk. Check 619 Western. I promise you'll see something interesting.

Friday, Feb 8th: New gallery show openings @ Blvd Gallery, Roq La Rue, Suite 100 Gallery. pssssst: Blvd Gallery is opening a second location in Ballard soon.

Friday Feb 8th: Broken Disco @ Chop Suey. Friendly monthly dance party. Always a variety of styles and skilz. Check local chicas Kris Moon and Jenn Woolfe.

Friday Feb 8th: Uberzone and Bassbin Twins @ Last Supper Club. Check Bassbin Twins' remix of Evil Nine's Crooked for a taste of what Pete brings to the table. Plus, he's a street art guy so + + + to him.

Sunday, Feb 10th: DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist in Hard Sell tour, plus Kid Koala @ Showbox Market. Powerhouse lineup. Get ready to get sweaty.

Tuesday Feb 12th: Holy Fuck @ Neumos with Super Furry Animals. Holy F*ck rocks my world with Super Inuit, The Pulse, and other tracks from their 2007 LP Young Turks. SFA is the headliner, so don't go too late.

Wednesday Feb 13th: Los Amigos Invisibles @ Neumos. "A blend of disco, acid jazz, and funk mixed with Latin rhythms." [wikipedia]

I'll try to update this list if I get wind of more goodies before I head out. Ja-ne!

stalker opportunities (12.26.07)

Here's what's on the calendar so far. Friends and future friends, ping me to meet up. I am into meeting new people who can hold a conversation and like to have fun! Creepy stalkers, I'll shame you on craigslist if you try anything weird.

Wednesday 12.26.07 Crazy-merry at the ranch with many, many, many relatives

Thursday 12.27.07 Downtown for a couple of minor and (hopefully) easy returns.

Saturday 12.29.07 early - pre-func at the TH: Ken’s home-for-the-holidays visit

Saturday 12.29.07 later - group meandering over to see Krafty Kuts break it at Chop Suey.

Sunday 12.30.07 – Unscrew the Crocodile Employees Benefit Show at Chop Suey. Benefit for employees of the Croc who were dropped like hot potatoes with the sudden close of the Seattle venue. "With members of Fleet Foxes, Peter Parker, Siberian, Pale Pacific, J.Tillman, Damien Jurado, Pleasureboaters, and many more.” This is a maybe event. On one hand, something interesting could happen and it is only a couple blocks away. On the other the music is a little more thrashy than I usually listen to.

Monday 12.31.07 – choices. Friends have secured a VIP table to indulge in Super Diamond at Showbox in Sodo. But there’s also what is looking to be a blowout dance party at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center: Science Friction (NYE). I'm leaning towards the latter.

stalker opportunities (12.19.07)

Holiday madness. Friends (and future friends): ping me if ya wanna meet up. Good excuse to break away from visiting relatives. Real stalkers: go lay under the Westlake Center holiday tree.

Wednesday Dec 19: Rumor is the Project Runway community viewing experience is delicously catty at Faire Gallery Cafe.

Friday, Dec 21: Winter Solstice party. Held in a 'burb block well-known in the 70's for key parties.
For a public event I recommend you check out Dyme Def at Neumos. They're performing as part of The Program: four nights of hip-hop with Blue Scholars. The Program shows are selling out in advance, so get your tix ahead of time if you plan to go.

Saturday Dec 22, afternoon: lunch with girls for a birthday at Saint Germain (soon to close).

Saturday Dec 22, night: XXXMas party at Lo-Fi. Organized by Seattle dj collective BootyResin.
